Recently, I attended a Level 1 Yoga instructor training at the Hood River Mind Body Fitness convention with YogaFit, a leader in yoga training.
I didn't go with the intention to be a yoga instructor or start my own yoga studio or anything like that. I went because I wanted to enhance my own practice of yoga and learn more about the basics. I also would like to help those close to me who are active in surfing and snowboarding. I also have a passion for helping pre and postnatal women. So, I figured I might learn something to help with all of the above.
I got everything I wanted out of it and more. The setting was serene and thought-provoking/calming all in one. The instructors were great. My classmates were wonderful people. In all, I felt the YogaFit community is a warm, welcoming place, and I fully intend to go back for Level 2 as soon as possible.
Now, I'm not advocating YogaFit or any other method. I firmly believe you need to find a class, a branch of yoga, and a training methodology that is suitable for you. I just wanted to ramble about my own experience for this first blog post.
My next step is to do 8 hours of yoga-teaching community service because YogaFit is big on community service (I think that's great too!). Upon completion of that, I will receive my Certified Yoga Instructor certificate!
